Summary:

AppTag Laser Blaster
Smartphone AppTag Laser Blaster Concept by Jon Atherton brings first person shooter console gameplay in order to smartphones in the real planet. Obviously, as along with any blaster toy, the object would be to shoot your friends! The AppTag does the actual shooting and the smartphone keeps score and tracks everything else, the actual App even adds Augmented Reality objects such as medkits, armour, weapons and ammo packs. For targeting we use a new focused infrared beam and sensor for the laser so it’s totally safe and sound. Each unit has an IR sender and receiver, and the AppTag unit works together with an attached smartphone or perhaps iPod Touch. The AppTag Laser Blaster unit communicates along with iPods, iPhones or Android devices making use of high frequency sound – so it just works with no Bluetooth or WiFi setup required. The high frequency sounds are well out of man hearing and don’t disturb animals considering that the volume is fairly low. Importantly – the headphone port remains free, so we can make use of the microphone and the speaker with regard to sound effects and in game communication.
